Apprenticeship Training Programs
allows the contractor to contribute a portion of the
prevailing wage
fringes for approved apprenticeship training programs and/or other educational expenses.
Benefits include:
- Paying inexperienced employees at an apprentice rate, not a journeyman rate.
- Increasing employee skill levels through approved educational programs.
- Reducing employee turnover by attracting and retaining skilled/trained employees through training opportunities.
- Increasing project bidding opportunities that require an employer to have an apprentice program.
All prevailing wage fringe contributions as well as non-prevailing wage employer contributions that are deposited into an approved apprenticeship training program are not subject
to employer labor burden costs. The contractor must enroll the apprentices into an approved training program recognized by the State and Federal
Department of Labor.
